In today’s economy, one thing businesses need to focus on is executing their marketing plan. Your marketing plan is going to generate traffic, promote your products and services, as well as build your brand. It is a know fact that companies who expand their marketing during a downturn, reap the benefit during the recovery. Here are some tips to keep you focused on bringing in customers:
- Hold bi-weekly events. Whether through an open house or a webinar promoting your product/service, you need to maintain a presence in your customers mind. The focus should be to educate your customers (and offering a solution to their problem, which should be your product/service).
- Follow-up on your existing clients. If you are experiencing a downturn, take this time to have your staff contact with past and existing clients. Start a phone, email, writing campaign to get them to come in!
- Grass roots marketing. This is the perfect time to get out in the community and build relationships with other non-competing businesses and build a special package. Maybe you can each offer a discount to each others current clients. This is a good way to get them to be introduced to your products/services.

Jeff- I went to my dermatologist last week, went to the front desk, wrote my name down on a clip board and sat down for 30 minutes looking at 3 month old magazines on fashion and the latest diet. All the time I’m thnking: “Here you have me, you have my attention and you’re doing absolutely nothing with it. You don’t know my email address, don’t know about my interests or hobbies or perhaps the if I have anyone in my family with needs the practice can meet..” What a missed opportunity.
Thanks for the post.
